Although we have a strong and loyal group of members in the Jersey Across Group,
many of us have been travelling on our holiday/pilgrimages for many years
and are no longer as young as we used to be.
We always welcome new group members who are able and willing to come as helpers -
both men and ladies, aged 18 upwards,
but especially men, who always seem to be more reluctant.
No special qualifications are needed, just an enjoyment in working with people,
and a willingness to help someone with whatever care they may need –
there will be a nurse to advise or help with anything complicated.
However, helpers must be fit enough to push a wheelchair
and be willing to share a room with their VIP.
And although the VIPs travel for free,
helpers will be required to pay £400 toward their expenses.
They must also be available to travel for a week in the spring.
Helpers and VIPs may be of any religion or none, but
they will be expected to attend three spectacular religious services while in Lourdes.
The trips are always an enjoyable holiday for our ‘VIPs’, and
GREAT FUN FOR EVERYONE.
Although it is not all holiday for the helpers, it is always worth it,
to hear the comments and the thanks from our VIPs at the end of the trip.
If you would be interested in helping us, please contact
Mary Renouf on 858187 or Annette Lowe on 721920 to discuss it, and then
come to one of our monthly meetings, which will generally be held on the first Sunday of each month,
at St. Mary’s and St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Wellington Road,
starting at 7.30 p.m. in an upstairs room.
